Case Study: Lithium House Bank & Victron Upgrade on a Liveaboard Cruiser

From dying lead-acid and engine runs to silent, monitored onboard power.

A liveaboard cruiser came to us tired of running the engine just to keep the fridge cold. The old flooded batteries were heavy, dying, and never gave a straight answer on charge.

What we did

We removed the lead-acid bank and installed a LiFePO4 house bank with its own BMS, a Victron inverter/charger for clean 240V at the dock and underway, bimini solar, and a Cerbo GX so the owner can see state of charge, solar yield and consumption from a phone.

The result

Far more usable power at a fraction of the weight, silent overnight running with no engine, and shore-power and solar charging that just work. As a certified Victron distributor we built it for the marine environment — vibration, salt and damp — and it's all serviceable down the track.
